Affiliate Marketing - 3 Pitfalls to Avoid Your First Month!

Affiliate marketing is a tried and true way to make exceptional money working from home. But why are so many people not having success? Many people decide to try this method to make money in many different niches, but only a small percentage is truly successful. Here are three pitfalls to avoid your first month, so you can be in the top 2% of all internet marketers.

1. Trying too many different techniques. This is a pitfall that many a newbie has fallen into. There are many different strategies out there; pay-per-click campaigns, Google Adwords, keyword optimization, blogging, article writing, online classifieds and the list goes on and on. They are all fantastic strategies, and I would suggest that you become an expert in most or even all of them if you want to see a six figure a month income online, but they are not something you can learn in a month. If you try and learn too many techniques you will probably not see many if any results, and you will suffer from information overload or burnout. It is much better to pick two or three techniques and learn all you can learn to implement them successfully. As Abraham Lincoln said "If I had six hours to cut down a tree, I would spend four sharpening my axe." Work on yourself first mastering a couple techniques and you will see money much faster.

2. Analysis paralysis. This is what it is called if you spend six hours sharpening your axe and don't get around to cutting down the tree. We can all fall into this pitfall, even experienced marketers when they are learning a new technique to increase their earnings per click or their conversion rate. We get so caught up in completing our learning that we fail to remember that we must take action. Even the best laid plan falls apart when it is implemented and you will need to adjust and adapt no matter how long you spend learning. So get out there and learn as you go.

3. Easy money hype. This pitfall has more victims in it than any other in the internet marketing industry. There are thousands of so called "Guru's" who claim that their product or service will have you making hundreds of thousands a month if you just send them a onetime payment of $97 and plug yourself into their system. Folks if it was that easy wouldn't everyone be doing it? There is work in anything that is profitable, especially in your first month. The trick is to learn two or three techniques, implement them and then learn new or more advanced ways to promote your products in your particular niche. There is no such thing as a free ride and you should run if someone tries to tell you there is.
